The use of PET and PP straps has a number of advantages over the metal band:

Differences between PP and PET straps
The main difference between polypropylene and polyester straps is in tensile strength, and in spite of the similarity of these two types of straps. It is considered that polypropylene straps have less strength and elasticity.
Polypropylene strap is used as binding material for packing small-sized cargoes up to 500 kg. This type of packing strap is used in printing, paper and cardboard industries, food and woodworking industries. With PP strap and pack boxes, furniture, lumber and other products.
PP strap has a width of 5.0 to 18.0 mm and a thickness of 0.35 to 1.15 mm. To bundle the PP load, both manual packaging machines and automatic machines can be used.
Packing strap made out of polyester is used for tying goods and goods of medium and heavy weight. PET strap can withstand weight up to 1200 kg. High-strength polyester strap is widely used for packing and transportation of timber and sawn timber (board, timber, plywood, and chipboard), bricks, refractory products of rolled metal in coils, for securing cargo on pallets, etc.
The width of the strap is from 9 to 19 mm, the thickness is from 0.15 to 1.15 mm. For packing the PET strap, both hand and automatic tools are used.
Polyester strap is characterized by the fact that it withstands large temperature changes in the range from -30°C to +45°C, as well as insensitivity to ultraviolet, which makes PET strap a better quality packaging material, compared to both steel and PP straps.
